Building your career

Through a rotation programme, our candidate attorneys train for up to six months in different practice areas. In this way, you gain invaluable exposure to a wide range of specialist fields.

You will gain hands-on, practical experience in the practice of law under the guidance of some of the most experienced lawyers in their fields. As part of a team appointed to look after a client's business, you will be able to learn through practice and observation in an interactive learning environment.

Regular feedback and performance evaluation allow our young lawyers to review their own training and development objectives, and to develop and grow as individuals.

Knowledge Management

Knowledge management is a top priority. Cliffe Dekker was one of the first South African law firms to appoint a partner to the full time position of knowledge management, with the exclusive focus to disseminating information, providing continuous training and transferring the experience and skills of senior professionals to our young lawyers.

We offer continuous skills training, interactive discussions of case studies and new developments in law, and access to our vast database of opinions, arbitration awards and other resource materials designed to advance comprehensive professional knowledge and skills.
